Everyone knew Susan and Ling Hui were the best of friends in University, but Goo Ling Hui, was the more popular. Hotter. Smarter.

Talented, pretty and admirable. Sabahan, darling. The girls hated her but secretly, ADORED her. They wanted to be friends with her, but there wasn’t much time to spare, when Susan often followed all her plans.

Most of the girls envied Susan, and the thing about Susan is that she senses trouble the moment it walks right into the front door. So she had always been, the courteous, polite, lovely girl from Subang Jaya, with an ever-hidden enigmatic gusto — who came to study, get that damn degree and then to hell out of the Uni. The plan was basic, she had it all figured, except that thinking changed. ‘As it hella should,’ according to Susan.

Ling Hui, too, had a basic plan. The only problem about that plan, is the plan being perfect and this always bothered Susan. When they met at the cafeteria during their first year degree, they hit things right off the bat. Beginning with common pleasantries and an acknowledgement to their shared upbringing, Ling Hui’s life in Sabah really intrigued Susan.

They were both well brought up girls with common romantic misadventures of a life only known to the posh and famous. But they didn’t just share an upbringing that seemed glaringly similar, they also shared something in common.

They had dreams. Many, and it was more than what an ordinary girl could think up with piles of laundry.
